Texas' 89th Legislative session kicked off January 14th, and tackling Texas’ housing affordability challenges will likely be a high priority. To keep our listeners informed, Michael Wilt sat down with Roger Arriaga with the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers and Todd Kercheval with Kercheval & Associates to preview the session and analyze the issues, policies, and potential bills that impact rental housing.

Meet Our Guest—Roger Arriaga

Roger Arriaga has served as executive director for the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers since 2018. His 25 years in the housing industry also includes leadership roles with the Austin Housing Finance Corporation and with KB Home.

As an extension to his housing background, Arriaga has worked in economic development advocacy as Vice President of Public Affairs at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, where he represented the business community in the areas of energy, water, transportation, and legislative affairs. He also previously directed air quality initiatives for the 13-county region of the Alamo Area Council of Governments and served as Chief of Staff for the San Antonio Water System.

Meet Our Guest—Todd Kercheval

Todd Kercheval has been involved in the political arena for the past 24 years. He has worked in both the Texas Senate and the Texas House of Representatives. Since 2010, Todd has worked as a contract lobbyist through Kercheval & Associates, where he represents a diverse group of clients.
