On Wednesday February 5, 2020, Texas State Senator Eddie Lucio recognized the Park Meadows community in Harlingen, a community providing affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income families. Alongside State Senator Lucio were representatives from TSAHC, Harlingen Community Development Corporation (Harlingen CDC), Texas Community Bank and other partners who revitalized the formerly foreclosed community.

In 2012, TSAHC acquired the 34-lot Park Meadows subdivision and subsequently partnered with Harlingen CDC through TSAHC’s Affordable Communities of Texas (ACT) Program to develop affordable single-family homes on the lots. Texas Community Bank provided $500,000 in construction financing to complement other financing sources.

To date, 30 homes have been constructed and sold for between $84,450 and $120,000 to households earning up to 80% of the Area Median Income.
