The fifty-sixth anniversary of President Lyndon B. Johnson signing the Fair Housing Act into law is April 11th.
Expanding upon the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and formerly known as Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, this landmark piece of legislation expanded and secured protections against housing discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, disability, and family status. More than that, it protects Americans’ right to rent or buy a home, obtain a mortgage, and/or purchase home insurance.
This year, we’ve collected the following resources and information to honor this landmark legislation and to help our readers learn more about this law and the rights it protects.
