Why Support TSAHC

  • We provide high quality housing opportunities.

Our mission for the past 20 years has been to serve the housing needs of low-income families and other underserved populations in Texas.

Simply put, TSAHC’s programs and services focus on helping local developers build more affordable housing, helping low and moderate-income families buy a home, and helping homeowners obtain the financial education and services they need to stay in their homes.

  • We help you achieve your community investment goals.

Whether you’re a financial institution looking for a CRA-qualified investment or an individual investor looking to make a social impact, TSAHC can help you reach your goal. And even though our programs are statewide, we can dedicate your investment to serve a specific community.

  • Your contribution is tax-deductible.

TSAHC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which means your investment is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by the IRS. We’ll make sure you have the documentation you need to receive your tax benefits.

  • We’ll keep you in the loop.

We want you to know how we’re using your investment. We’ll send you periodic progress reports to show you how your investment is directly helping us sustain and expand our housing programs.

For donors who are comfortable with TSAHC promoting their investment, we will work with you to determine what level of publicity is appropriate. And we will work with corporate investors who are interested in providing their employees with volunteer opportunities as part of their investment in our programs.

All Giving Opportunities

At TSAHC, we consider our funders to be partners in our mission to serve the housing needs of low-income Texans. We take pride in our track record of putting our investors’ funds to efficient and effective use. TSAHC currently offers the following investment opportunities.

Texas Housing Impact Fund

Through our Texas Housing Impact Fund, TSAHC provides short-term and long-term loans to housing developers seeking to build affordable housing in their communities. TSAHC provides flexible loan rates that can be combined with other sources of financing, which assists affordable housing developers facing insufficient credit availability in traditional markets.

How will my investment be used?
TSAHC uses program revenue and private funding, including grants, donations, and program-related investments, to provide loans to local housing developers. Your investment in the Texas Housing Impact Fund will help TSAHC help a local developer create affordable housing for low-income families in Texas.

ACT is Texas’ first statewide land bank and land trust program.  Through ACT, we acquire foreclosed and vacant properties from financial institutions, and then partner with local housing developers to turn these properties into affordable housing for working families.

How will my investment be used?
Your investment will be used to purchase foreclosed properties from financial institutions and/or pay for maintenance costs until these properties can be sold or leased to low-income families.

Texas Foundations Fund

Through the Texas Foundations Fund, TSAHC provides grants to local non-profit organizations to fund housing services, including home repairs, supportive services, and housing counseling services, that provide stability to very low-income families.

How will my investment be used?
Your investment will support critical services, including but not limited to, ramps or other accessibility modifications for seniors with a disability; case management and mental health counseling for families and individuals transitioning from homelessness; and home buyer education for families buying their first home. TSAHC covers all administrative costs for the Texas Foundations Fund, which means 100% of your donation will support services like these.

Housing Connection

Through Housing Connection, we partner with NeighborWorks America, a national nonprofit training provider, to provide local housing nonprofits with access to free training opportunities focusing on home buyer education, housing counseling, affordable housing development and real estate financing.

Sponsoring Housing Connection is a great way to support local nonprofits that help educate Texans about homeownership.

How will my investment be used?
TSAHC will use your donation or sponsorship to directly offset the costs of the trainings, as well as provide hotel scholarships to participants attending from out of town.

Property Donations

Property donations are critical to the success of TSAHC’s Affordable Communities of Texas (ACT) Program, Texas’ first statewide land bank and land trust program.
