Introducing Our 2026 Texas Supportive Housing Institute Participants
Next week, we will kick-off our fifth Texas Supportive Housing Institute (Institute), and we’re thrilled to introduce this year’s teams and how they intend to house and support our most vulnerable Texans. Building upon the success of the place-based Institute in Austin in 2022, we’re once again offering a place-based Institute. To that end, we selected teams committed to building supportive housing communities in the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex.
Launched in 2020, the Institute is offered in partnership with the Corporation for Supportive Housing. Designed to promote the development of permanent supportive housing (PSH), the Institute provides developers, property managers, service providers, and other housing professionals with the training and tools they need to build successful PSH developments in their local communities.
Supportive housing is recognized as one of the most effective housing interventions for serving individuals with persistent health challenges, those experiencing chronic homelessness, and those at-risk of falling into homelessness.
The teams introduced below will go through four months of in-person and virtual training and then present their proposed developments to fellow cohort members, funders, and supporters at a February “project reveal” showcase.
The teams are able to participate in the Institute at no cost thanks to generous support from Charles Schwab Bank.
Destiny’s Leaders
Located in Frisco, Texas, Destiny’s Leaders‘ mission is “to empower vulnerable individuals and families through trauma-informed support services, housing stabilization, health and wellness programs, youth development, caregiver support, and community-based resources that improve quality of life and promote self-sufficiency.” They intend to develop affordable, supportive housing where healthcare, behavioral health, and community-based services are integrated through a trauma-informed approach.
eGrab Foundation
Based in Fort Worth, Texas, eGrab Foundation is a dedicated faith-based nonprofit striving to break the cycle of all abuse and violence towards others. They achieve this by providing emotional support and strength to survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence and interpersonal violence through the comprehensive Mentorship Program, “Under His Wings.” The development team intends to create a 20 unit supportive housing community primarily serving survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
Elect Housing Solutions
Elect Housing Solutions is a mission‑driven Community Housing Development Organization committed to expanding equitable access to stable, affordable, and service‑enriched housing across Texas. Their vision is to create communities where every individual — regardless of background, trauma history, or socioeconomic status has the opportunity to thrive in safe, dignified, and supportive environments.
The development team has identified sites in South Dallas for a proposed 40 units of high quality, service rich housing that stabilizes individuals with complex needs. Their goal is to create a “flagship model” community that is replicable and scalable.
Embrace Your Purpose Outreach Center
Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, Embrace Your Purpose Outreach Center Inc. is a community-based nonprofit whose mission is to provide shelter, care, housing, and social services to economically deprived, homeless men, women, and children, with a particular focus on neglected and economically deprived individuals and those struggling with substance use and trauma.
The organization operates Purpose House in Georgia, a supportive housing community that serves women and children. They intend to create a similar 36 unit community in Grand Prairie as well as rehabilitating a 40 unit apartment complex in Arlington.
Fighting Homelessness
Based in Dallas, Fighting Homelessness is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness through housing, education, workforce development, and systems change. Their mission is to empower individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability by removing barriers to self-sufficiency, expanding access to affordable housing, and advocating for public policies that create lasting solutions.
The development team intends to create “an intentionally designed intergenerational community serving three primary populations whose housing and economic challenges intersect.” Those populations are youth transitioning out of foster care at risk of homelessness, older adults on fixed or limited incomes, and teachers in need of affordable housing near their schools.
Oasis Haven Homes
Oasis Haven Homes is a veteran-owned shared and supportive housing provider in Fort Worth, Texas that is dedicated to helping individuals achieve stable, independent lives through safe, affordable, and structured housing. Their mission is to reduce homelessness and housing instability by serving individuals who often face barriers to traditional housing, including veterans, people experiencing homelessness, individuals with disabilities, those in recovery from substance use disorders, people reentering the community after incarceration, seniors on fixed incomes, and low-income working adults.
They intend to develop a shared housing model that promotes housing stability, independent living, and long-term self-sufficiency.
