Texas Statewide Homebuyer Education Program
In 1997, the Texas Legislature charged the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) with the development and implementation of a statewide homebuyer education program to provide information and counseling to prospective homebuyers. The Texas Statewide Homebuyer Education Program (TSHEP) was created to fulfill this mandate. TSHEP aims to bring uniform and comprehensive homebuyer education to all 254 Texas counties by training housing counselors.
On September 1, 2012 the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) became the agency responsible for administering TSHEP on behalf of the state. With generous contributions from Bank of America, the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, and private TSAHC funds, we were able to hold two rounds of training during our first year of administration. In attendance were 93 counselors representing 57 organizations and 40 cities across Texas. Surveys conducted following the trainings, showed that 100% of those that attended would recommend this training to others.
TSAHC is happy to announce the TSHEP schedule for 2014. Mark your calendar with these important dates!

By taking a 5-day course, you will receive 30 credits of continuing education to renew your certification. A 3-day course is worth 18 credits and a 2-day course is worth 12 credits.
