2015 Highlights:

TSAHC celebrated its third anniversary of administering the Texas Statewide Homebuyer Education Program (TSHEP) in partnership with the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) in October. We continue to be pleased with the program’s success.

  • 82 counselors trained
  • Counselors represented 58 organizations and 26 cities across Texas
  • 100% of counselors would recommend this training to others
  • Overall rating of 3.9 out of 4.0
  • 38 hotel scholarships were awarded to counselors to attend training

We contracted with NeighborWorks America to deliver the following courses:

  • HO229: Homebuyer Education Methods-Training the Trainer
  • HO247: Post-Purchase Education Methods
  • HO370: Advanced Financial Coaching- Taking Your Practice to the Next Level

What type of certification does TSHEP provide?

TSAHC partners with NeighborWorks America, which offers six certifications for homeownership practitioners, and each meets the requirements of the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling. NeighborWorks certification is maintained by obtaining continuing education credits in the amount of 10 credits every year or 30 credits every 3 years. By taking a 5-day course, you will receive 30 credits of continuing education to renew your certification. A 3-day course is worth 18 credits and a 2-day course is worth 12 credits.

For more information about the different certifications provided by NeighborWorks, including the requirements to obtain or maintain a certification and the application form for each, click here.
