June is Homeownership Month, and at TSAHC, that means one thing: we're doing all we can to make sure home buyers across Texas have the information and tools they need to make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Whether you're a first-time buyer or repeat buyer, we hope the resources below give you a clearer picture of what to expect — and how we can help make it more affordable.

Last week, we spotlighted three home buyers who used our programs to purchase their homes. Today, we're highlighting resources to guide those that want to follow the same path and fulfill the dream of homeownership.

10 Steps to Buying a Home

Not sure where to begin? Our homeownership team recorded an in-depth webinar that breaks the entire home buying process down into 10 clear, manageable steps — from the early stages of house hunting, all the way through closing day. It covers important tips and things to watch out for at each stage, so you know what's coming and how to prepare.

We also created a companion flyer that lays out all 10 steps at a glance. It's a great resource to print out or save and refer back to as you move through the process.

PROGRAM COMPARISON CALCULATORs

One of the most common questions home buyers have is: which loan and down payment assistance option is right for me? Our Program Comparison Calculators make it easy to find out. Just enter your credit score and home purchase price, select the loan types and assistance amounts you want to compare, and the tool will show you the loan amount, down payment requirement, and estimated monthly payment for each option — side by side. It's a simple but powerful way to see how different choices could affect your bottom line before you ever talk to a lender.

INFORMATIONAL VIDEOS

If you prefer to learn by watching rather than reading, our informational videos are a great place to start. We have short, easy-to-follow videos covering topics like how down payment assistance works, what a Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) is and how it can save you money on taxes, and a full walkthrough of the 10 steps to buying a home. They're designed to give you a solid foundation before you dive into the details.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

In addition to our educational tools, we invite you to check out information about our home buying programs that help make homeownership more affordable for Texas families. You can also check out our FAQ, which covers the most commonly asked questions about our programs in plain, easy-to-understand language.

ELIGIBILITY QUIZ

When you're ready to explore homeownership and if we can help, our Eligibility Quiz is the fastest way to find out if you qualify for TSAHC's programs. It only takes a few minutes, and when you're done, you'll receive a list of participating lenders in your area who can walk you through the rest of the process.
