Celebrating On the House’s 10 Year Anniversary

August 9, 2024 | by Anna Orendain

Just over ten years ago, on August 1, 2014, the On the House blog was created in an effort to spotlight the housing industry, its affordability issues, TSAHC's programs, and other helpful resources.

Beginning with just one contributor, Katie Claflin, the On the House blog has gone through several milestones since its inception. This week, in honor of its 10th anniversary, we thought we'd take a look back at how this blog has grown and highlight some of our favorite resources we've shared over the years.

August 2014 -- Our First Spotlight Post

To this day, we regularly write articles about our staff members, nonprofit partners, and properties that TSAHC has helped develop. In our first ever spotlight, we highight Celina, our current Director of Asset Oversight & Compliance. While this interview is now nearly ten years old, we'd still recommend checking it out to learn more about Celina! To read her spotlight interview, click here. May 2015 -- A New Writer Enters the Ring

After several months of being the sole author of On the House blogs, Katie welcomed Michael Wilt as a contributor.  With his first post, he shed light on how to use TSAHC's programs to overcome the challenge of paying for a down payment on a home. To read his advice, click here

March 2016 -- Our First Guest Post

A year and change after our first blog post, we welcomed our very first blog post from a guest contributor! To read their tips for younger home buyers, click here

February 2017 -- Our Very First Ode to Tax Time Savings

If you've been a reader of this blog for some time, then you've likely seen at least one of our posts about how a Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) can help home buyers save money for years to come. It's one of our favorite posts. To read our most recent MCC post, click here.

August 2019 -- Five Years In...

At about the five year mark, we made a post explaining the pros and cons of our two different down payment assistance types: a grant and a forgiveable second lien. If you're curious about the differences and are wondering which one might be right for you, you can find the details here.

June 2020 -- Our First On the House Podcast Episode Launches

As a part of our 2020 National Homeownership Month celebrations, we launched our very first podcast episode in June 2020. To learn more about the On the House podcast, its hosts, and get a preview for some of the topics covered, click here.

Over the years, we've added contributors, expanded our spotlights and have worked to incorporate the voices of our partners. This entry marks our 407th post, and while we've covered many topics, we know there's always more we could write about. If you think there's something we should turn our attention to, let us know!
