Police Officer Home Loans
Police officers risk their lives everyday to keep Texas communities safe. TSAHC's Homes for Texas Heroes program honors police officers for their service to Texas communities by providing them with a low, fixed-rate home loan and a grant for down payment assistance.
To qualify for a police officer home loan under the Homes for Texas Heroes Program, you must meet one of the following requirements:
- Must be elected, employed, or appointed as a full-time peace officer under Article 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure, Section 51.212 or 51.214 or Education Code and licensed through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Must be employed or appointed full-time as an armed public security officer through this state or a political subdivision of this state and licensed through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
Please note that security officers employed by a private security company that contracts with this state or a political subdivision of this state are not eligible under this definition.
Down Payment Assistance for Police Officers
TSAHC provides low, fixed-rate home mortgage loans to help police officers purchase a home. TSAHC also provides police officers with a grant to help with down payment assistance and closing costs.

Mortgage Credit Certificates for Police Officers
Police officers who are first-time home buyers can also take advantage of TSAHC's Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) Program. With an MCC, police officers can take a portion (up to $2,000) of the annual interest paid on their mortgage as a tax credit every year. An MCC can save police officers thousands of dollars over the life of their mortgage loan.
