(Austin)— In partnership with a network of dedicated mortgage loan officers in Texas, the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC) helped 5,758 Texas families purchase a home in 2017 through the Homes for Texas Heroes and Home Sweet Texas Home Loan Programs. These low-to-moderate income families were able to qualify for a low fixed interest rate mortgage loan, a grant for down payment assistance and/or an annual federal tax credit to help purchase a home.
In total, TSAHC’s programs provided $863 million in mortgage loans and $35 million in down payment assistance grants to home buyers in 2017. Additionally, 1,437 of the 5,758 families assisted were able to access a federal tax credit specifically for first-time buyers that saves them up to $2,000 each year on their income taxes.
TSAHC recently honored the top three loan officers for helping families purchase a home with its home buyer programs:
Stacy Lynn Schriever with NTFN, Inc. dba Premier Nationwide Lending assisted 74 home buyers in 2017, originating more than $12.5 million in mortgage loans. This is the second consecutive year that Ms. Schriever has been recognized as a top TSAHC loan officer.
Ginger Smith with Right Start Mortgage assisted 53 home buyers in 2017, originating more than $9.1 million in mortgage loans. This is Ms. Smith’s third year to receive an award as a top TSAHC loan officer.
Liz White with PrimeLending assisted 50 home buyers in 2017, originating more than $6.3 million in mortgage loans. This is Ms. White’s first year to receive an award as a top TSAHC loan officer.
“Last year was TSAHC’s most successful year ever for our home buyer programs, and we owe much of that success to our participating loan officers. They play a crucial role in guiding Texas families through the process of buying a home and using TSAHC’s programs,” said David Long, TSAHC President. “We can’t emphasize enough how grateful we are to have a strong network of loan officers and mortgage companies who use TSAHC’s programs to provide Texas families with an affordable path to homeownership.”
