Categories: Spotlight

We periodically spotlight a staff member or partner to help our readers get to know our mission and industry a little better.

This week, we are spotlighting Delia Davila, TSAHC's Senior Manager of Single Family Compliance. As part of the Single Family Compliance team, she oversees our internal processes that ensure that all borrowers using our programs meet the program requirements as set by Federal Tax Code, internal guidelines, and other eligibility criteria.

Below is her interview.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do here at TSAHC.
I’ve been at TSAHC for 10 years. I am a Senior Manager for the Single Family Compliance department. I’ve lived in Austin since 1995 after getting accepted at the University of Texas at Austin and never left.

What led you to work at TSAHC?
I was working at Habitat for Humanity when a fellow co-worker got a job at TSAHC working with the Development department. She told me how much she liked working at TSAHC, and when a new position in the Single Family department opened up, she told me to apply, and I’ve been here ever since.

What’s a professional and/or personal accomplishment that you are most proud of?
Well, anytime I can help a borrower break the cycle of renting and help them achieve homeownership, it makes me feel very proud. That’s why I keep doing what I do.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Austin is so much fun. I like going to all the music festivals, comedy festivals, movie festivals, hot sauce festivals, you name it, Austin has a festival. The city always has something fun happening throughout the year. I also like to cook and I am slowly learning to keep plants alive for more than a month.

What’s your favorite book, movie, or TV show?
Currently, I’m really into Succession on HBO and Yellowjackets on Showtime.

What’s something about yourself that many people might not know?
I studied radio and television broadcasting in junior college and during a summer internship, I had to do morning traffic reports for Spanish radio stations in Houston.

If you knew you could accomplish one thing and not fail, what would you do?
I wish I had musical talent. If I could learn to play a musical instrument, like piano or guitar with ease, I would love that.

What’s your favorite quote or piece of advice?
I used to think “fake it ‘til you make it” was silly advice, but now I get it.

Which destination has been your favorite place to travel to? Where would you like to travel to at your next opportunity?
Prague has been my favorite so far. Italy is on my list. One of these days I will go there. The Amalfi Coast area in particular.
