Despite the unpredictable and challenging housing market of the past few years, the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals' (NAHREP) 2023 State of Hispanic Homeownership Report found that the Hispanic homeownership rate has steadily grown for nearly a decade and is currently at 49.5%, up from 48.7% in 2022 and 47.5% in 2020.
The number of Hispanic homeowners in the United States has grown to 9.5 million, and that growth is attributable in some part to home buyer programs like TSAHC's which -- according to the report -- play a vital role in creating more homeowners.
This past Sunday marked the start of Hispanic Heritgage Month, and TSAHC is celebrating by participating in several events across the state to spread the word about housing programs proven to make homeownership more attainable.
TSAHC was at the Alvin Historical Society Hispanic Heritage Festival on September 6th and will be going to the Arlington Public Library Health and Wellness Fair and the City of DeSoto Hispanic Heritage Festival, both on September 21st. We also encourage you to keep an eye out for an upcoming On the House podcast episode all about available assistance opportunities.
If you're looking for information about our home buyer programs for Spanish speakers, we'd recommend checking out our dual language library of brochures and flyers that aim to provide home buyers with resources and next steps for using TSAHC's programs to buy a home.
If you're looking for something a bit less literary, we previously recorded a podcast episode in Spanish that goes over both our down payment assistance and Mortgage Credit Certificate programs, as well as how they can both be used to save money while buying a home.
We also have a quick bite-sized informational video filmed in Spanish that makes the process of buying a home less mysterious.

TSAHC has also joined forces with the Harris County Homeownership Collaborative to help launch Own the HOU / Conquista HOU, a campaign funded by the Wells Fargo WORTH Initiative that aims to create 5,000 new homeowners of color in Harris County. To date, participating agencies have created homeownership opportunities for more than 2,400 home buyers of color in Harris County. Click here for more information on this initiative.
